Should you purchase luminous or juice marked cards ?

Question: What is "shade"? and how is it different from Luminous, Juice, Flash & Tint work?

Answer: "Shade" is the generic term which encompasses various marking technologies, such as Luminous, Juice, Flash and Tint work.

You have a choice of a Luminous or Juice solution which are different formulas. Then you decide if you want to apply the solution using  Flash, Juice or Tint work marking patterns. Since you can now own the solutions, you have the flexibility to decide which shade and marking patterns are best, based upon your working situation and environment.

In summary, there 3 solutions (luminous, juice for red, juice for blue cards and juice for green cards). These solutions can be used by incorporating juice, flash or tint work marking patterns on your cards.

Sorry, but to confuse matters more, we now offer Ultra-luminous which is only meant for the serious professional. It works on higher frequencies than NU-CONcept luminous solutions and daubs.

Question: Will you use luminous markings on red or blue backed playing cards?

Answer: In general, luminous solution or paste/daub works best on red backed playing cards. The complete NU-CONcept manuscript does discuss a method of using luminous markings on blue cards. However, it should be noted, that even though luminous shade may be used on blue backed playing cards it is, generally, not recommended and not very practical.

Note: Ultra-luminous works on both red and blue cards as well as on the white border of cards with some practice. But, as I said before, Ultra-luminous is only for the serious professional mainly due to it's high price.

Question: What is more deceptive, luminous or juice ?

Answer: Luminous markings require the use of the filter gimmick attached to your sunglasses. Whereas, juice can be read with your naked eyes as long as you practice and train to read the marks. Therefore, juice is considered by magicians and gamblers to be the most deceptive marking method which may be read by your unaided eyes.

NU-CONcept advises that people learn to read Juice without sunglasses. However, many people want to jump-start their use of a Juiced deck. If this is the case, NU-CONcept suggests using NU-CONcept Juice Enhancing Sunglasses ™ which may be used as an aid to make marks visible with minimal effort.

(Note: People are wearing sunglasses more frequently. Even in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) sunglasses are commonplace. Therefore, wearing sunglasses to prevent people from reading your "tells" is considered reasonable. I wear sunglasses when I perform gambling expose's.)

Question: Which shade product works on red backed cards ?

Answer: Luminous solution in the NU-CONcept marker/pen applicator,  Ultra-luminous, red daub / paste, red Juice Dust (TM) or juice designed for red backed cards. N-Daub is also an excellent option because it works on most color back designs.

Question: Which shade product works on blue backed cards ?

Answer: Permanent blue Juice solution in the NU-CONcept marker/pen applicator.  Blue Juice Dust (TM) or blue Daub / paste for blue backed cards are also good alternatives. Of course, if you want to use Juice technology, N-Daub (TM) is also an excellent option because it works on most color back designs as well as paper and plastic cards.

Ultra-luminous also works on blue backed cards and on the white borders with practice. But, Ultra-luminous is only meant for serious professionals.

Question: How much effort you are willing to put into learning to read markings ?

Answer: Luminous markings are the easiest shade to read on paper based cards. Reading luminous on 100% plastic cards may be harder than juice depending upon the color and back design of the 100% plastic card. JUICE or tintwork markings work very well on KEM/Copag cards as well as on paper based cards. But, bear in mind that traditional juice markings may take a little more practice to read, but well worth the sleight extra effort. (Note: All solutions are easy to apply.)

Ultra-luminous sunglasses are gradiated in such a way that they can dynamically tune your vision to read Ultra-luminous marks under various lighting conditions. Ultra-luminous solution and dust/daub works on both paper as well as 100% plastic cards. But, Ultra-luminous is meant only for the serious professional.

You may also want to note that NU-CONcept has announced in May 2006 a pair of Juice Enhancing Sunglasses ™ which makes learning to read Juiced marked cards easier.

Question: Which solutions can you use on KEM playing cards ?

Answer: Luminous & JUICE solutions for KEM cards has been specially formulated to permanently mark KEM plastic. The KEM solutions will damage Bicycle playing card stock (paper). Conversely, the solutions designed for paper playing cards will not adhere to KEM stock.

It is important to note that NU-CONcept generally recommends Juice Dust (TM) or N-Dust which is applied by using your finger (vs. a permanent marker/pen). Juice Dust (TM) will work on BOTH paper (Bees, Bicycles, Aviator, etc.), as well as KEM, Copag, etc. cards. Juice Dust is also easier to use on KEM, Copag, Gemaco and Modiano cards.

Bear in mind that NU-CONcept recommends that while luminous is VERY easy to use and read on paper based playing cards (such as Bees, Bicycles, etc.), it is much more difficult to use on most 100% plastic cards (KEMS, etc.). Therefore, NU-CONcept STRONGLY advises that beginners and intermediate customers use Juice or Juice Dust (TM) to make Juice or Tintwork marking patterns. Juice, tintwork and flash tends to be far more deceptive of 100% plastic cards.

(Note: Ultra-luminous is in a league by itself and works on both paper as well as 100% plastic cards. Ultra-luminous is only meant for the serious professional.)
